High School Selection Process

The online system for applying to high schools opens on September 21st and closes November 2nd.  Students are permitted to select up to 5 School District of Philadelphia high schools including Special Admit, Citywide, and Neighborhood Schools.  Charter, Catholic, and tuition-based schools are not included in this process.  Students apply through their School Net Accounts and can upload their essays to their application.

Some schools also require interviews.  The school counselor, Ms. Brigaman, will sit down with every 8th-grade student and their parent or guardian to provide assistance and guidance through the process.  Additional information about each school’s requirements and programs can be found in The Notebook Fall Guide: Choosing a High School, on The Notebook’s website and online at schoolselect.philasd.org.

At Arthur, we aim to have every 8th grader attend a high school of their choice.  Some schools that our students have recently been admitted to include:  Engineering and Science, SLA, Central, Saul, the Workshop School, and Philadelphia Military Academy.  Acceptance letters will go out at the end of January or the beginning of February.  Please contact Ms. Brigaman for more information.
